There are important companies which are Hyundai Heavy industry, Hyundai car company and S-oil so on.The population is about 1.2million.Ulsan has several beautiful places below on it.

Interesting places in Ulsan

  • Taehwa-river Park
The Bamboo forest, one of Ulsan’s twelve scenic areas, connects to the river and has been restored and preserved to provide a refreshing relaxation space.
  • Ulsan Grand Park
It is the largest urban ecological park in Korea. Covering 3,640,000㎡, it offers various recreation facilities including an environment theme recreation zone, family picnic zone, youth zone, forestation and other zones.
  • Samsan-dong
is rising as a new shopping mecca in Ulsan with large department stores in-cluding Hyundai Dept. Store and Lotte Dept. Store. Many restaurants, clubs, pubs and clothing shops scatter the area. It is a very popular place for the young generation.
  • Seongam-dong
is the Myeong-dong of Ulsan. There are theaters, accessory stores, fast food stores, coḀee shops and clothing shops for young generation.
  • Ilsan Beach
This is another beautiful site, along with Gangdong Coast. The night view at Jujeon Coast is famous. There is a cozy beach with small black stones all along it. Walk on the beach, and feel the waves tickle your feet. The place is crowded around New Year’s day with people who come to see the sunrise.

  • Daewangam
It is a nice for taking walks and has a coastline with fantastic rock cliffs. It is a nice place to relax within the city limits. Ulgi Park is located at the end of the sharpest point on the southeastern part toward the East Sea. This is why The Ulgi Light-house is famous. It serves as a guiding light on the East Sea. The light-house is 600m from the entrance of the park, and there are large 100 years old pine trees. The shade here is both cool and cozy. Once you get off of the pine woods path, you will come to Daewangam Park, which is full of huge rocks.

Ilban Bus

The yellow colored buses are called Ilban buses. They circulate around Ulsan. There are different numbers on the front of bus which indicate where the bus is heading. The fare is 1,150won for an adult.

Jwasuk bus

These buses are faster and more expensive than the Ilban bus. But, when people are in a hurry, they usually take these buses. The adult fare is 1,700won.

With a MYB Card (which is an electronic bus card), you can get a discounted bus fare. Ilban bus fares will be 1,100won. Jwasuk bus fares will be 1,500won.

Taxi

Taxis in Korea are affordable, comfortable, and can be a convenient way to travel. The basic fare for these taxis is 2,200won for the first 2Km with increases of 100won per 144m.

Mobile phone

Mobile phones are plentiful and commonly used in Korea. Most have various functions such as texting messages, taking pictures and video calling. The major communication companies in Korea are SK Telecom, KT and LG Telecom. Detailed information can be found on each company’s website in English. To buy a mobile phone, foreigners need to submit copies of their passport, foreigner registration card, and other required documents. In the case of using a proxy, that person should bring an ID as well.

Jimjilbang

Korean saunas are called Jimjilbang and are very popular places for relaxation among the Korean people. They can enjoy saunas with their family and friends. Jimjilbangs are usually open 24hours and the entrance fee is usually between 7,000won and 10,000won.

Baseball Championship

From April to October the baseball championship are held. Baseball is one of the most popular sports in Korea. On weekends, many people go to watch baseball games. There are 8 professional teams that play in stadiums in Seoul, Daegu, Gwangju, Busan, Daejeon and Incheon. The entrance fee is from 8,000 to 30,000 won, depending on the season.

PCbang

There are many places where you can use the Internet in Korea. These places are called ‘PC bang’, the Korean word ‘bang’ means room, but another name commonly used is Internet cafe. When you need to use the Internet to check e-mail, surf the web, work on or print documents, you can go to one of many PC bangs, found in every neighborhood. The fees are reasonably priced. Hourly rates are between 1,000won and 1,500 won per hour. If you have a membership or go at night time, it can be cheaper.

Festivals

Ganjeolgot, where the sun rises the earliest in Northeast Asia, is surrounded by scenic nature and beauty. A variety of folk and amusement events are held every year, praying for citizens’ health and prosperity.

Taehwa River Festival

During this festival, you can enjoy a variety of fun and exciting sporting events (swimming, dragon boat racing, a marathon, etc). The event also includes a writing contest as well as a painting contest.

Cheoyong Cultural Festival

As one of the most famous festivals in Ulsan, The Cheoyong Festival is held in Daldong Cultural Park in early October. A variety of fun and exciting events such as a parade, a world music festival, an academic seminar, an exhibition and diverse hands-on programs are held during the festival.

Ulsan Whale Festival

This festival is held at Jangsangpo Marine Park where whaling was a thriving industry in the past. This is the nation’s only whale festival, and it has been held annually since 1995. This festival focuses on continuing to develop whale related tourist resources and increasing economic values by spreading cultural values.

Onggi Expo Ulsan Korea

Since 2000, The Onggi Festival has been held at the nation’s biggest Onggi village in Ulsan. This festival focuses on spreading the environmentally friendly culture and the scientific and cultural excellence of traditional Korean earthenware vessels. The festival consists of exhibitions, cultural and academic events and hands-on programs.
