College Identity

Symbolic Animal

Dolphin

Dolphins appear with Neptune, god of the sea, from ancient Greece. They are loved by many people, have a high intelligence, excellent memory and a sleek, smooth appearance. It is also well known that they have well developed brains, can transmit sound underwater and have an exceptional receiving function in order to communicate with each other. The coast of the Ulsan area has been renowned for whale sightings since ancient times.

Bangudae, ruins of prehistoric rock have been artfully carved. More than 20 depictions of various whale acquaintances exist. Until recently, Jangsaengpo was the main whaling harbor in the area. Thus, the cleverness and agility of a dolphin and the vigor it possesses in the mighty ocean mimics the attitude our young students should take.

Chaplain

Bamboo

A bamboo oriented nature represents the virtue and vigor of the young people. It also serves as a symbol of UC’s eternity and practicality. Moreover, bamboo is an eligible symbol of our school because it grows plentiful within the area of Ulsan.

Bamboo is one of the four gracious plants as well as a symbol of constancy because it remains green throughout the year and also grows straight despite being hollow. ‘A straightforward man’ indicates that the person does not compromise the injustice and illegality. Furthermore, bamboo is a special food for the phoenix and symbolizes prosperousness and fertility.

This is the expected value of Ulsan College.
